We have gotten a number of calls about an alarm company that is advertising alarm monitoring with a wireless GSM radio for $16.95 a month and they claim to sell their wireless GSM radio for $89. They also claim to “have never had a price increase in nearly thirty years.” As a consumer this appears to be a great deal. We thought so too, so we investigated. Too good to be true!

We use the same brand of GSM radios that they do, so we contacted the manufacture and suppliers to see if we could get a volume discount that would match their price. No such luck. Obviously we know what our monthly monitoring costs are and what it costs to bill a customer. Think about it… If a company keeps their price constant while all other expenses rise, they have to be losing money. Their prices are not keeping up with annual inflation, minimum wage or postage increases. If you compare their prices with national companies you will find that their monthly monitoring is almost a third the price and their GSM radio is half the price. Too good to be true!
